August Ellison

Technical / Digital Project Manager

01 / Introduction

I lead digital projects from proposal through launch.

I translate between clients, design and development, make trade-offs explicit and stay accountable for delivery. My technical fluency helps me challenge decisions, reduce ambiguity and step into implementation when useful.

Based in Vienna. Austrian–American dual citizen and currently Junior Digital Brand Manager at Wilde & Partner.

02 / Selected work

Decisions, delivery and outcomes.

Four projects that show what I contributed, who I worked with and what changed as a result.

01 Hospitality platform relaunchAgency project at Wilde & Partner Website relaunch / Hospitality Proposal · Design · Development · Launch
Context
Agency website relaunch at Wilde & Partner after a hospitality property changed ownership. Hotel, restaurant and event workflows all had to remain intact.
My contribution
I led the proposal, scoping, information architecture, UX, design and WordPress implementation from requirements through launch, while coordinating client decisions.
Key decisions
I replaced an aging custom system with a maintainable CMS, integrated hotel and restaurant reservation paths, and created separate editorial access for two restaurant teams.
Outcome
The client can now manage each property without routine developer intervention, while guests reach the correct reservation path from one coherent platform.

Client identity and imagery are temporarily withheld while publication permission is confirmed.

02 Funding consultancy content systemAgency project at Wilde & Partner Content system / B2B consultancy Search intent · CMS · UX · Development
Context
Agency website and content-system work at Wilde & Partner for a consultancy with a complex and frequently changing service portfolio.
My contribution
I worked as developer and technical lead in a wider team, contributing to design and taking responsibility for CMS architecture, responsive implementation and technical QA.
Key decisions
I translated search intent and service requirements into reusable programme and service patterns rather than one-off pages.
Outcome
The team gained a scalable WordPress structure, clearer user paths and an editorial workflow that makes new programme content easier to publish consistently.

Client identity and imagery are temporarily withheld while publication permission is confirmed.

03 UmbraIndependent iPhone product Umbra iPhone app website homepage. Shipped product / App Store Product · Swift · UX · App Store
Why
Umbra began with sleepless nights and a simple question: could useful long-form knowledge become easier to continue by listening?
My contribution
I defined the product and brand, designed the interaction model, built the iPhone app in Swift, developed its supporting service and website, recruited testers and shipped it to the App Store.
Product
Umbra turns freely licensed Wikipedia content into an audio-first experience using a self-hosted phonemization service and Piper voices.
Iteration
Feedback from ten testers shaped chapter handling, voice choice, playback speed and favourites before release.
Outcome
A shipped end-to-end product that demonstrates product definition, interaction design, technical delivery and feedback-led iteration without claiming traction that has not yet been measured.

04 AI-search visibility auditResearch & automation Audit model / Repeatable baseline Research · Automation · Recommendations
Context
Agency research and client work at Wilde & Partner. Clients needed a defensible baseline for understanding when AI systems surfaced their brands in recommendation-led searches.
My contribution
Working with the team, I turned an open-ended visibility question into a repeatable audit workflow and comparable evaluation model.
Key decisions
Repeat runs, structured source capture and normalized evaluation made time-bound comparisons possible without presenting the results as universal market share.
Output
The work produced a decision-ready baseline and prioritised recommendations for owned content, partner information and PR. Client names, raw responses and findings remain confidential.

05 / About

Curious about how things work.

I am good at researching unfamiliar subjects, finding connections and making technical ideas understandable. That is what lets me work comfortably between clients, designers and developers without losing the details that matter to each.

Research & AI

Research that turns into useful tools.

My MA thesis examined how marketing and advertising agencies were responding to generative AI through qualitative research.

Today I apply the same curiosity to AI-assisted workflows, product experiments and visibility audits that lead to concrete content decisions.

Education

Communication research and a multilingual perspective.

Outside work

Some systems are best understood with your hands.

I maintain and restore my Porsche Boxster (986) myself and have rebuilt a steel bicycle. Diagnosing the problem and doing the work myself is the satisfying part; driving or riding it is the reward.

Strength training gives me routine and quiet. Mountain biking adds adventure, endurance and a useful amount of adrenaline.

Photography / selected frames

Photography is another way I practice noticing structure, light and detail.
